5G-beyond connectivity, cloud and storage services-by creating
pervasive networks with smarter devices and OTT apps. Context-aware
networks with embedded features such as edge computing and ultrahigh bandwidth have the potential to transform the transport,
manufacturing, logistics, healthcare and energy sectors. The future will
belong to those that can create sharper, personalized insights from data
while providing integrated services. Telecom operators across the world
are already deriving value from pervasive analytics.
Vodafone has deployed a Customer Experience Management (CEM)
solution across 22 markets for 446 million subscribers. DNA Oyj, a
Finnish telecom company, has decreased the average time spent on
customer care calls by one-fifth and achieved a 65 percent increase in
customer satisfaction using a Network Analytics solution. Netflix uses
customer data and consumption patterns to create personalized
homepage views for users.
Success for telecom companies in India will depend on how effectively
they can use data to monetize their core offerings. And we must keep in
mind that this data monetization model will be very different from the
advertising-led data monetization model favored by the Internet
companies.
