In June the Lib Dems were able to
give London Labour a fright.
In Lewisham East, the efforts of
Liberal Democrat campaigners
from across the country backing
our excellent candidate Lucy Salek,
helped secure our biggest swing
against Labour (when they are in
opposition) since 1983.
What did we learn from the
campaign in Lewisham East?
1) Having a great candidate with a
story to tell makes a real difference.
But you need to tell that story and
tell it quickly.
2) We had to get our message out
in volume - in a short by-election
that means a lot of literature and
digital advertising right from the
start. As well as volunteers who are
willing to get stuck in and knock on
doors. This is something that is
equally important if you are fighting
a local by-election or a
3) Spend time getting lots of good
photos of your candidate especially
ones of your candidate engaging

to get out our message really
