Such victories are no accident.

They come about after a lot of hard

work from volunteers on the

ground, who drop everything to

make sure we deliver the scale of

campaign required.

Analysis by the Insight team here at

LDHQ of the local elections in May,

has shown some interesting

benchmarks required to

win a local election. On

average we need to:

1) Deliver at least one

leaflet or letter to every

target voter each week

of the campaign

2) Speak to at least as

many voters as we need

votes to win

3) Have a database of

people receptive to our

message (people who

say they will consider

supporting us), that is

twice the number of

votes we need to win

But the most

important thing is to

ensure that we stand a candidate

and that is something that every

party member can help with. After

all, doesn't every voter have the

right to vote Liberal Democrat next

time?
