WELCOME FROM
PAUL HACKETT
What a year 2018/19 has been
We scaled up our building programme,
delivering 985 new homes and making
a start on a further 1,003. In total, we
welcomed an extra 1,312 new residents
into their new home and the Optivo
family.
Our reputation as a developer of
affordable, quality homes was recognised
with two strategic partnerships. We
extended our partnership with the Mayor
of London to build an additional 1,000
affordable homes in London by 2022, with
an additional £57.2m of grant funding
from City Hall.
We also became a strategic partner with
Homes England. The deal will see us build
1,000 affordable homes in the South East
and Midlands by 2022 with £44.94m of
grant funding from Homes England.
And there's more to come. Optivo will
invest £3.5 billion in new homes over the
next 10 years to achieve our ambitious
growth programme to deliver 1,500
homes per year by 2021.
This year also saw our influence continue
to grow in the sector. In August, the
Communities Secretary chose a meeting
with Optivo residents to launch the Social
Housing Green Paper. This was a great
endorsement for our approach to resident
involvement which is seen as sector
leading.
Our Resident Scrutiny Panel also won
sector-wide recognition for their project
to improve fire safety communication
at Optivo. This was a really high quality
piece of work that has practical benefits
for all our residents. It was voted a winner
in Inside Housing magazine's Resident
Safety Campaign competition in 2019.
You really are at the heart of everything
we do and I know, by working as 'One
Team', there's so much more we can
achieve.
