Welcome from the Residents Strategy Panel
RESIDENTS
AT THE HEART
Glen Cady (Chair) & Monica Barnes (Vice Chair)
This year more of our residents got
involved in shaping Optivo's services than
ever before.
Nearly 3,000 of you took part in creating
our new Resident Involvement Strategy,
through surveys, focus groups, the Loop
online forum and teleconferences. The
new strategy focuses around:
¢ Embedding co-creation as a way of
working
¢ Rethinking and modernising resident
involvement
January saw the launch of our new
Resident Forums, with four events
attended by 300 residents across the
regions. Each year residents vote on what
the forums should focus on and then
work with staff to identify how Optivo
can improve services. For their first year,
the forums voted to tackle loneliness and
isolation in our communities.
This year also saw residents take up the
opportunity to engage with government
ministers on housing policy. Over 70
Optivo residents attended events in
August to give their views on the Social
Housing Green Paper. Our Residents
Strategy Group also led a joint delegation
with staff to discuss our approach to
resident involvement with the Ministry
of Housing, Communities and Local
Government. The Ministry were
particularly keen to learn how we involve
residents in complaints.
Our Resident Scrutiny Panel also
completed their first project, looking
at Optivo's fire safety communication.
The panel decided to focus on high
rise and high risk properties, assessing
whether communications were active and
effective to residents in these properties.
We were delighted the Panel's work on
this important topic was recognised
with a winners spot in Inside Housing's
Resident Safety Campaign competition.
Optivo is fully committed to making sure
residents are the heart of everything we
do. By working together as one team, we
can ensure your voice is heard and Optivo
delivers.
