The Manufacturing Resource Centre has

an active involvement in several key sectors, Aerospace,

Automotive, Medical

and the important Energy Industry.

Through the MRC, GTMA builds a strong

link to the Manufacturing Sector by forming

partnerships with industry sector companies

and with trade associations in key sectors,

such as RenewableUK.

This facility provides a developing platform

for business, emerging technology opportunities and expertise

across the engineering

supply chain of GTMA member companies.

This support facility also focuses on technological innovation within the manufacturing

process, such as the ISF process which is

being introduced into the UK, materials

development and new product development.

ISF is an incremental sheet forming process.

It has a wide selection of materials from aluminium to

titanium and its application provides a low cost part without the expense

a 'tool' or panel beating skills and provides

accurate repeatability using hard materials

and a large working envelope.

GTMA represents the technical changes taking place at various engineering exhibitions

such as Advanced Engineering Show,

Autosport Engineering, MACH, Subcon, TCT

and Interplas, PDM and at GTMA events

such as Make Measurement Matter

Roadshow, the Manufacturing UK event and

Sector events held each year by GTMA.

MRC provides both the OEM and Tier 1

companies with the vital link to the engineering supply chain of engineering companies.

It is a service which has seen a significant

rise in demand and is unique within the

Our service is confidential and provides the

buyer with a personal service from the GTMA.

'We embrace technology, procurement

and supply chain initiatives to offer solutions across

a full range of business

needs. Through our Manufacturing

Resource Centre we can offer support to

ensure business success by bringing

Buyers and Suppliers together.'

One of GTMA's key roles is to keep industry

up-to-date with enabling technologies in the

manufacturing sector, both to drive competitiveness and keep

UK companies in world

leading positions.

If anything, the need for technical knowledge

is increasing as the number of technologies

per product (TPP) is growing - and nowhere

more so than in the Aerospace, Automotive,

Energy and Medical industries where sustainability, lighter

materials and advanced

engineering are only part of the story to

achieve success.

Our supply chain solutions magazine

supports our meetings with OEMs and Tier

1 companies to assist with their procurement requirements

and provides supplier

evaluation and technological innovation within the manufacturing process.

Renewables and nuclear are heading up a

lot of the activity in Britain's energy revolution - but oil and gas is a sector

also set

for big investment. Many GTMA members

are active in the sector and looking forward

to continued success. The photo,

tonne module being lifted into position in

the North Sea as part of the rejuvenation

of the Andrews area. BP is also involved in

wind power, and the picture opposite is

also courtesy of them.
