RESEARCH BACKS THE UK
UK manufacturers are set to
place more work with UK subcontractors and have a high
degree of confidence in the
strength of the economy,
according to new research.
The survey, carried out by the
Subcon exhibition, showed that
47.3% of visitors to the 2013
show planned to increase the
amount of work they placed with
UK subcontractors in the next
12 months.
With Subcon 2014 taking place
at the NEC, Birmingham, from 3
to 5 June, the signs are that it is
ideally timed to take advantage
of this upsurge in business for
subcontractors.
This year's event is set to be the
biggest yet, with over 300 subcontractors exhibiting representing
every aspect of outsourced
manufacturing services, from
design and prototyping, machining, moulding, fabrication, composites
and electronics
assembly to finishing and testing.
One of the support organisations is GTMA and member suppliers
with stands booked as we
went to Press included Faro,
IMSM, Killala Precision
Components, Metrology Direct
and WDS Components.
New for this year is the Subcon
Electronics Zone - building on
the growing number of contract
electronics manufacturers - and
also highlighted is the Engineer
Conference, a high-level event
focussed on innovation and
design in manufacture.
GTMA is exhibiting at Control,
the world's leading trade fair
for quality assurance, in
Stuttgart on May 6-9.
It will be an opportunity to promote association suppliers to
an event which regularly brings
together users from around the
world with international market
leaders and innovative suppliers of all QA
related technologies, products, subsystems and
complete solutions in hard and
software.
With over 800 exhibitors from
30 countries, Control is the
number 1 source of information
for companies that see first
class quality as the basis of
their business success.
Specialist sectors being covered this year at the exhibition
include the following:
• Measuring technology
• Material testing
• Analysis apparatus
• Optoelectronics
• Quality Assurance Sytsems
The exhibition gives visitors an
opportunity to see the latest
production and test engineering
advances and a key issue is
the transfer of knowledge and
technology between research &
development and industry
users.
