ANISHA

PROGRAMME: GRADUATE

ROLE: ASSISTANT QUANTITY SURVEYOR

Janina and Anisha at the Francis Crick Institute in central London. The

Institute is the brainchild of several partner organisations including Cancer

Research UK and the Wellcome Trust. When complete, it will be the one of the

most significant biomedical facilities in the world. One of the biggest

challenges for us is building in areas containing highly sensitive scientific

equipment located in the basement laboratories. We are doing

this by manufacturing precast concrete plunge columns with stainless

steel reinforcement to reduce the magnetic field. These 14m long,

15 tonne columns are the largest ever manufactured off site.

" I love design. Buildings amaze

me: Gaudi architecture in

Barcelona; the Sydney Opera

House; Palm Island in Dubai.

I've always sketched buildings

as a hobby, floor plans and

stuff. Working on the Francis

Crick Institute is a dream

come true."
