Edtech and

education asked to

work together

Nesta, the innovation foundation, and

Department for Education is funding a

£4.6 million programme to involve

schools, teachers and pupils in

evaluating edtech products that have the

potential to support educational

outcomes and transform the way schools

are run. The partnership was announced

by Damian Hinds, Secretary of State for

Education as part of the DfE's major new

Education Technology Strategy.

The strategy sets out 10 challenges

where tech solutions could have real

impact. Nesta will be working across four

of the challenges outlined in the strategy:

• Formative assessment

• Essay marking

• Parental engagement

• Timetabling

The Nesta-run programme will focus on

connecting schools and industry to test

high-potential products to find out what

tech works for them, marking a step

Accountancy body

explores digital

transformation

UK accountancy body ICAEW has

teamed up with global professional

services firm Deloitte to look at how

disruptive technologies are transforming

the future of finance, bringing both

challenges and opportunities.

In a bid to ensure accountancy

professionals understand the disruptors

and the impact on finance ICAEW and

Deloitte have created Finance in a Digital

World, an online learning programme for

finance professionals working in business

and commerce.

The suite of nine modules is designed to

offer a complete assessment of digital

transformation on the finance team and

the whole culture of an organisation.

The programme is promoted as:

• Raising digital awareness;

• Using leaders in digital transformation

to deliver the learning;

• Helping to identify new opportunities;

• Embedding digital curiosity.
