Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) 6 TUE: 05, 12, 19, 20 SEP & 03, 10 OCT 10:30am-12:30pm Location: Newcastle
WRAP® is a 'self-management' tool used by many individuals to enable them to take more control over their own wellbeing and recovery. The WRAP® course emphasises that people are
the experts in their own experience and is based on the premise that there are no limits to recovery. The five key concepts of WRAP® are: HOPE - A belief that things will get better;
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY - Taking back control of your life; EDUCATION - Looking at your strengths and rediscovering yourself; SELF-ADVOCACY - Having a voice for yourself; SUPPORT -
Receiving support from others and giving support to others.
Anxiety Management 4 WED: 06, 13, 20, 27 SEP 10:30am-12:30pm Location: Lisburn
The aim of this course is to provide you with some general education about anxiety, to describe the types of symptoms common to anxiety, and discuss what can cause anxiety. The course
will also explore recovery strategies that can help you deal with worry and manage setbacks. Each week there is an emphasis on the importance of consistent and continuous practice of
recovery strategies for managing anxiety.
Decider Life Skills 4 THU: 07, 14, 21, 28 SEP 10:30am-12:30pm Location: Ards Peninsula
The Decider Skills use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to teach young people and adults skills to recognise their own thoughts, feelings and behaviours, allowing them to monitor and
manage their own emotions and mental health. The skills were designed to enable students to make effective changes to help manage distress, regulate emotion, increase mindfulness,
promote effective communication and help to live a more skilful, less impulsive life.
Discovering a Carer's Journey 1 THU: 28 SEP 7:00pm-8:45pm Location: Zoom
This course is open to any carer of a person with a mental health condition. Students will explore the patient journey & possible treatment options. This course will offer students the
opportunity to talk together about caring for someone who has mental health issues. Importantly the course aims to facilitate conversation with you & other carers about your own health
& the importance of taking care of yourself.
Sleep Awareness 2 WED: 04, 11 OCT 6:00pm-7:15pm Location: Zoom
This course will explore the benefits of getting a good night's sleep and provide an understanding of why sleep is important for recovery. Together, we will identify some of the challenges
that can prevent us from getting a good night's sleep and introduce helpful strategies to overcome those challenges.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training 2 WED & THU: 18-19 OCT 9:30am-4:30pm Location: Newcastle
ASIST is a two-day interactive workshop in suicide first-aid. ASIST teaches students to recognise when someone may be at risk of suicide and work with them to create a plan that will
support their immediate safety. Although ASIST is widely used by healthcare providers, students don't need any formal training to attend the workshop - ASIST can be learned and used by
anyone.
