HOTEL UPDATES
These black footprints were left by
one person walking on the 4th
green December. The picture was
taken the following morning after
the course was closed due to frost.
They were not created by golfers or
members of staff, but this is what
happens when people walk on
frosty greens, and why we
appreciate your continued patience
and support when we ask you to
wait on a frosty morn. The
footprints are the result of leaf
damage, and in some cases can
cause the root to shear,
permanently harming the plant.
GOLFING NEWS
Bovey Castle Bi-Monthly Edition
As many of you know, we're currently extremely busy working though our million-pound
kitchen refurbishment. This will see the launch of the 'Great Western Grand Grill' in midJune.
The project will also include new guest facilities and wine rooms. To coincided with
the launch, we'll be introducing a new Smith's Brasserie menu, with enhanced opening
times to allow for that all important pre-round coffee and bacon roll. Other exciting
projects include a light remodel to the Golf shop, the launch of our Elan Studio and the
development of our new kitchen gardens.
Our membership prices and inclusions have now also been reviewed, and will be
launched from the 1st June 2023, details of these will follow in due course. Our
membership structure hasn't had a full review since 2014 so is long overdue.
February and March saw continued investment in the course, including a Smithco
Tournament Ultra green roller (Turf Iron). This will be a welcome addition to the
machinery fleet, it will aid in increasing our greens speeds as well as shortening the
greens recovery time following maintenance and aeration.
We also have a new Green Mower on order to replace our current Toro GR3250, this will
be a direct replacement but will mean we can cut and maintain to finer tolerances.
9th update
We've now received the final Architects drawing and full plans for the repairs on the 9th
green. This is a huge leap forward and will now allow us to accurately price sculptors. We
still aim to have the work carried out this spring, however we are mindful of the season
starting in earnest and are realistic that this may need to be pushed back to the Autumn.
