The Bread & Beyond team has scooped a
pair of prizes from an awards ceremony
which celebrates the very best of baking
in the UK.
The team at our on-site bakery - Dylan Needham,
Laura Parker and Scott Thompson - won two prizes
in the Tiptree World Bread Awards Heroes with Brook
Food 2021 in a ceremony held virtually in October.
The Bread & Beyond team won:
● The South East region Tiptree World Bread Awards
Heroes with Brook Food
● Brook Food Dream Team award, a Special Award
category presented
Artisan Bakery Manager Dylan, Job Coach Laura and
Baker/ Job Coach Scott have worked closely together
over the past year to expand Bread & Beyond's pool
of stockists, diversify the product range and, most
importantly, help our young people with complex
autism to develop the skills they need to get access
to the world of work in the future.
Awards judge Ann Wells, Commercial Director at
Brook Food, said: "Judging the Brook Food Dream
Team award was an honour. Reading the entries was
humbling, and in the case of our winner completely
inspiring; with Bread & Beyond they practise
'teamwork' in its truest form.
"The concept is derived from seeking the best in
individuals and bringing these together as a group
to achieve something that's progressive, wholesome
and most importantly sustainable in terms of the
bakery and the team members - they were a very
obvious winner and their notion is admirable."
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic,
young people at Prior's Court have continuously
accessed the Bread & Beyond to develop their
skillsets.
Sara Evans, our Education Lead for Post-16 who
oversees Bread & Beyond's operations, said: "We've
always known we have an outstanding team, but this
pair of awards really highlights that fact."
Prior's Court is looking to explore external work
placement opportunities for the young bakers of
Bread & Beyond and so is keen to hear from bakeries
in the West Berkshire and South Oxfordshire areas
who would be interested in supporting us. Contact
