It is very important that during their time
at Prior's Court our young people have
the opportunity to be a part of the wider
community.
By engaging with the community, our young people
get the chance to apply the skills they learn on-site in
new settings, which will help in later life.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, opportunities for
visits into the community became limited. And
despite staffing challenges being faced at the
moment, in keeping with the wider care sector,
Prior's Court teams continue to strive to get our
young people out into the wider community.
Recent highlights have included:
l Prior's Court Band travelling to Loddon School to
perform at its Wildmoor Festival
l Returning to Burghfield Sailability to enjoy boat
trips out onto a lake.
l Young person Brandon being supported to take
part in Newbury parkrun.
l Young adult Lorcan overcoming the sensory
challenges of a visit to a barbers to get a haircut.
l A shopping trip to Tesco for Willow Class.
l Young adult Lara enjoying a shopping experience
at Next in Newbury.
l A bowling trip for Summer and Autumn Houses.
l A holiday to Somerset for young adult Rowan.
This is in addition to regular trips such as to two
Riding for the Disabled centres, swimming at a
Newbury leisure centre, walks at local beauty spots
and more.
