Prior's Court staff members and family
members of our young people are set to
take on a capital challenge.
The team of eight will be taking part in the 2023
London Landmarks Half Marathon taking place on
Sunday 2nd April.
Our energetic eight taking part are staff members
Jenny Peacock, Chris Sturm, Joshua Lepetit, Tomson
Chauke, Claudine Osso, and Jo Lovelock, and Kaitlin
Lawrence and Jack Clark who have siblings who live
and learn at Prior's Court.
The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a
fundraising event organised for charities with the
aim of raising as much money as possible for as
many charities as possible. It runs along a route
that covers cultural landmarks, heritage sites, and
London's hidden secrets. It starts on the iconic
Pall Mall and travels alongside Trafalgar Square, St
Paul's Cathedral, Nelson's Column, and the Tower
of London. The race then finishes on Whitehall just
outside Downing Street.
This is the first year Prior's Court has taken part and
just so happens to fall on World Autism Acceptance
Day.
If you would like to support our team of runners
at the event, you can join with members of our
Fundraising and Marketing teams at the corner
of Great Tower Street and Byward Street. We have
specifically chosen a quieter area should young
people from Prior's Court and their families wish to
come along and also cheer on runners. The quieter
area was chosen to be more suitable for our young
people who may need to exit the area quickly.
If you would like to know more about the runners or
access their JustGiving pages, please have a look on
our website.
Over the course of 2022, more than 1,000
hours have been donated by volunteers.
Prior's Court has been lucky enough to receive regular
visits by corporate volunteers keen to donate their
time and help us around the site.
Even during the cold winter months volunteers have
been coming in to help us.
From October to December we have had 39 volunteers
give us 178 hours of their time completing projects
across the site.
Visits included:
l Thames Water, pictured, for constructing and
installing a swing base, levelling a garden, and moving
tonnes of Type 1 hardcore to prepare the ground for
Astroturf in the garden of one of our residential homes;
l Visa for removing gravel and stones laying and
levelling tonnes of type 1 hardcore to prepare the
ground for Astroturf, digging trenches for edging and
tidying the garden in one of our residential homes;
l Cisco, pictured, for compacting the type 1 hardcore,
installing edging layering sand and under sheeting
and laying Astroturf in the garden in one of our
residential homes, and trimming hazardous trees and
