Looking ahead to a busy WAAW 2024
Structured Teaching goes external
for the first time since 2019
Go to priorscourt.org.uk/events
to see our upcoming Structured
Teaching course dates.
Our first 3-Day Structured Teaching course to
external delegates since the beginning of the
Covid-19 pandemic has been successfully
delivered.
A mix of Prior's Court staff and external delegates
from special schools and related organisations spent
three days in October learning Structured Teaching
methods such as Schedules, Work/Activity Systems
and 'Total Communication'.
This course enables delegates to make tangible,
individualised changes to their students' education,
helping to reduce anxiety and deliver the best possible
outcomes.
The 3-Day Structured Teaching course
was delivered by our very own TEACCH
Advanced Consultants, as well as staff
from our on-site Therapy teams and our
partnered schools.
Prior's Court has a unique relationship
with TEACCH. It is at the very heart of our
approach and we have strong links with
the University of North Carolina where
TEACCH originated.
World Autism Acceptance
Week (WAAW) 2024 will be
held in April - and Prior's
Court will have plenty going
on over the whole month..
This includes week-long focuses
on topics such as how senses
are different for young people at
Prior's Court,, and volunteers from
Prior's Court taking over a Newbury
parkrun event like last year, pictured,
to raise awareness of our work.
During the week itself, keep an
eye on our social media for special
pieces of content around our work.
As was the case in 2023, the
WAAW itself culminates with Team
Prior's Court taking on the London
Landmarks Half Marathon in a
fundraising challenge.
Keep an eye on priorscourt.org.uk and our social media for
the latest updates.
