Getting To Know: The Finance Team
What is your role at Vertas?
I am the Group's 'Financial Analysis and Reporting Manager'. I'm
responsible for leading, supporting and managing the FBPs, MAs and
AMAs. The main purposes of the job are to ensure consistency in our
financial controls, reporting and analysis across the group. Part of this
means also ensuring that the group is compliant with all relevant legal,
compliance and accounting standards/policies. The experience levels vary
in the team, so mentoring and developing junior members is vital for
building confidence so that we have the appropriate levels of knowledge
and experience in the team as the business grows.

What things are you excited about going forward in your role?
My new role has a large focus around business reporting and analysis, so I'm excited to be able to help
influence the journey Vertas takes with strategies for both improving performance and winning/ retaining
business. We have already held our initial meeting as part of the CIG for 'Management Information' and
one of our biggest challenges in achieving our aims will be how we report information within the business,
to allow a more customer-centric approach. It's a challenge but an exciting one.
What is something you have accomplished or are most proud of?
Buying my first home was a great feeling as it felt so hard-earned. Likewise, achieving various chartered
accountancy qualifications through distance learning has filled me with pride, as juggling a busy workload
with long hours of study can be very challenging at times. I have also been very proud to be selected for
Vertas' 'Aspire to Inspire' leadership programme, which began in the New Year.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
We live in a beautiful part of the world, so most weekends my girlfriend and I are out on long walks in the
local area (Essex/Suffolk). It's a very therapeutic way to bookend busy working weeks. As we bought our
first house in late 2019, there always seems to be a project on the go too and I've slowly been developing
green fingers in the garden. Other than that, you may find me cycling or following the various football/
rugby teams I support (for my sins).
What is your dream holiday?
My dream holiday would be to be to explore the north and south islands of New Zealand. I'm not really an
adrenaline junkie but you can't help but be drawn to all the activities and natural beauty on offer there. As
I have lots of family dotted around too, it would also be a great opportunity to catch up with uncles, aunts
and cousins that I rarely see.
