Useful information when
installing Karndean LooseLay
Acclimatisation
At least 48 hours prior to installation, Karndean LooseLay
must be removed from packaging, unstacked and allowed
to acclimatise in the room where the installation is to take
place. Room temperature should be kept between
18°C - 29°C (65°F - 85°F).
Subfloor Preparation
Subfloor preparation must comply with ASTM F710,
AS/NZS 1884, BS 8203, DTU 53.2, DIN 18365 (Teil C) or other
applicable National Standards and Building Codes for the
installation of Resilient Flooring.
Installation
Before starting the installation remove all debris or dust and
clean the floor. Karndean LooseLay can be installed on any
subfloor that is flat, level, smooth and dry using one of the
following three options:
1. Loose lay - fitted 'tightly' to the wall and each other using
a suitable tackifier or pressure sensitive adhesive around
the edge of the room and at thresholds.
2. Grid stick - in rooms with walls longer than 4 metres
(13 feet) use a suitable tackifier or pressure sensitive
adhesive around the edge of the room and at intervals
across the floor in a grid pattern, again fitting Karndean
LooseLay tightly to the wall and each other.
3. Heavy traic / high temperature areas - we recommend
installing Karndean LooseLay with a full coverage of
Karndean Hi-Tack adhesive.
Routine Maintenance
Karndean LooseLay has a protective PU surface, which helps
to protect the floor and eliminates the need to strip and seal
after installation.
Regular cleaning with a pH neutral cleaner such as
Karndean Clean will help keep your floor at its best.
To refresh the appearance and durability of your floor, strip
the floor using the Karndean Remove solution, rinse the
floor with water and seal, using the Karndean Refresh sealer.
Repair
Karndean LooseLay is not only quick and easy to fit, but in a
situation where you may need to replace a damaged plank
or tile, it's just as easy to replace a piece as it is to fit in the
first place.
