Chapter 2
A Tale from the Past - 1840
Jurgis Itzhak Kadišius had taken to his bed. He had been feeling
progressively worse over the past few months and he had lost some
weight. He felt so tired these days and his face had begun to betray
a peculiar yellow pallor which somehow showed through from under his
normally weathered complexion. It had started one morning
about threee months earlier. He had awoken at daybreak and hadn't
felt quite right. As days passed he became progressively worse and his
feeling of lethargy was now accompanied by some discomfort and
occasionally pain somewhere inside his body high up in his midriff
slightly to the right. He really felt quite ill.
Now that he had reluctantly been compelled to remain in bed his
