LUCA PERSI
Store Manager - Versace Italy
Many years ago, on my first day at my very first job, my loved ones told me:
"Luca, pay attention, listen and try to be like everyone else. Otherwise, the
company won't want you there." I had to strip off my identity every morning,
before entering the office, hiding my true self.
Today, I am in a company that wants me for who I am. Being openly out and
proud at Capri means to me that I can bring my life into my work place.
Meaning the people around me can see the true Luca.
I work in an environment where I feel so comfortable it helps me express my potential to the fullest. I
didn't have to come out, I just had to be myself. My superiors made it clear diversity would be a richness
for the company. I learned that fashion can promote diversity and inclusion, supporting everyone's need to
express themselves and encouraging self-confidence.
We don't live in a black and white world. Feelings, identities, emotions are like colors and shiny fabrics with
whom a great stylist created the most beautiful garment that is life. This is what I believe and what I share
everyday, through my activities and the colorful and vibrant clothes we show our customers: full of life and
color garments, which express who really wants to be.
We celebrate life, love, uniqueness and their nuances, never tired of exploring new combinations, in the
awareness that everyone is special in his own way.

WHAT IS SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU PROUD TO BE A
PART OF THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY?
Capri has done an excellent job of not only recognizing, but celebrating and
embracing different cultures, ethnicities and minority groups. The focus
each month on diversity and inclusion reminds us that we are part of a big,
diverse world. It is very important to me to be with a brand that is inclusive
and accepting, and allows people to focus on being their best self.
HOW HAS YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY SHAPED YOU?
Being part of the LGBTQ community has shaped me in several ways. Knowing you are different while
growing up, in school, and in everyday life has a way of making one stronger, and more self-reliant. The
community has taught me that not only is it okay to be my authentic self, but that it is beautiful to be your
authentic self, even if you hear differently from those around you.
WHAT IS THE BEST PART ABOUT BEING OPENLY OUT AND PROUD AT CAPRI?
Knowing that it is a "non-issue" to be who you are.
