Sequencing events
To sequence events is to put the events in the correct order.
This morning, I saw Keith on the bus. I was surprised to see him
because he moved to London with his family and studied there last
year. He and his parents had a trip to the city five years ago. They
loved the place very much, so they chose to live there. He came
back to Hong Kong last week to visit his grandparents.
What did Keith do? Put the items in the correct time order. Write 1, 2, 3
or 4 in the blanks.
came back to Hong Kong
had a trip to London
met a friend on the bus
studied in London
(1) Sequence words 'first', 'then/next/after that' and 'finally' can help
us work out the sequence of the events.
First, he entered the house. Then, he came out with a large bag.
After that, he got on a car. Finally, he left.
(2) Time phrases can also show the sequence of the events.
Last Saturday, my brother and I played video games after lunch.
Mum prepared snacks for us at three o'clock. Before dinner, we
played badminton. We had a nice day.
