Meeting Our Swimming Champion
R = Reporter; J = Jessica Lee
R: Congratulations on winning the championship, Jessica! I'm so
1 (excite) for you. Did you expect to win?
J: Thank you! I was 2 (worry) about my performance
before the event. I was 3 (surprise) that I won.
R: Have you always been 4 (interest) in swimming?
J: No, not really. It's actually quite an 5 (interest)
story. When I was a child, I became ill very easily. My parents thought that
swimming would make me stronger and healthier, so they enrolled me on
swimming classes. It was a 6 (frighten) experience
at first because I was so 7 (scare) of water. It took me
several weeks to finally overcome the fear. Then I found swimming fun and
8 (challenge), and I was 9
(motivate) to do better.
R: How did you prepare for this championship?
J: I trained for very long hours. The training could be very A
(bore) sometimes. There were times when I felt really B
(frustrate), especially when I didn't perform well. Luckily, my coaches were very
C (encourage). I felt D (relieve) after
talking to them every time.
R: Are your parents happy with the result?
J: Yes, they're really E (satisfy) with it. I'm really grateful
for their support all these years. They are 15 (amaze).
