We are pleased to announce that Nikole Hannah-Jones, the Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of The 1619 Project
and a staff writer at The New York Times magazine, will be joining us on Thursday, June 17, 2021 as we celebrate
Juneteenth. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in History and African-American
Studies as well as a Master's in Journalism from the University of North Carolina, Ms. Jones has spent her career
investigating racial inequality and injustice throughout the US. Her reporting has earned her the MacArthur
Fellowship, known as the Genius grant, a Peabody Award, two George Polk Awards and the National Magazine
Award three times.
Join us as Nikole speaks to the history of slavery in the US and how it has shaped the country as well as the
importance of Juneteenth and why it is celebrated.
