What makes a Discover the World escorted holiday special?
We asked Cathy harlow – shortlisted in the Wanderlust Guide Awards
Q. What’s the key ingredient for a successful escorted trip?
A. It’s getting the basics right: the right traveller on the right holiday, so you get a like-minded group who are going to gel.
Q. How are Discover the World escorted holidays different?
A. We keep group sizes small, stay in accommodation that’s near to places of interest and we never rush day to day itineraries. Our staff also go the extra mile and have the all-important insider knowledge that goes into planning a successful trip.
Q. How do you approach each holiday as a guide?
A. It’s important to find out what your group expect from the trip and iron out any potential hitches. I always try to see the positive side of things and aim to include experiences that fall outside the standard tourist itinerary.
Q. You must love Iceland and the other places you guide?
A. It’s great to share your enthusiasm for the countries with your groups. You have it in you to make their holiday extra special by being available, helpful and knowledgeable and putting your clients’ needs before your own.
