BÆJARINS BEZTU, REYKJAVÍK
One of Reykjavík's most famous eateries is a humble hot dog stand near
the harbour. Since 1937 Bæjarins Beztu (The Best in Town) has been
serving delicious pylsur. The regular queues outside the little booth
testify that these hot dogs are some of the best in the world.
BRYNJA, AKUREYRI
People come from far and wide to sample the famous Brynjuís ice cream
from this shop in Akureyri's old town. Made from a secret recipe picked
up in Italy over 50 years ago ask for a "bragdarefur" and create your
own flavour from a choice of fruits and sweets.
KAFFI KU COWSHED CAFÉ, EYJAFJÖRÐUR
At this cosy family run farm café near Akureyri enjoy tasty locally baked
goods with a coffee while watching the cows being milked in the working
cowshed. The ultimate freshly-prepared latte! On Saturday nights the café
is opened as a pub with live music.
FJÖRUBORÐIÐ, STOKKSEYRI
The tiny south coast village of Stokkseyri is well known for its restaurant
Fjöruborðið (At the Beach) which serves exceptional lobster dishes.
Enjoy the soup or better still, lobster served in a cauldron, cooked in
herb butter with lemon - absolutely mouth-watering.
