Tips for coaching and mentoring your
apprentice for success:
A mentor in the workplace is a person who can provide
guidance to a less-experienced employee.
They can be an employee of the same company or can come
from outside the company. Either way, the mentor adopts a
role model stance and presents as someone willing to share
their knowledge, skill and expertise to give help and advice
for the long-term benefit of the individual they are mentoring.
Mentoring
What is a Mentor?
Coaching is a process where one person facilitates the
thinking, exploration, curiosity, and action planning of another
person, in order that that person can bring about some
changes.
Coaching is NOT advice giving, or as a coach taking over the
discussion by sharing your experiences. The coach's role is to
help the individual explore and clarify their thoughts, develop
insight, and to draw on their own resources and decisionmaking
possibilities.
