Most of these platforms will host online webinars in the future, interviewing
professional healthcare providers and patient and carer representative organisations.
In this final phase, it is also time to "give back",
so we have started to reach out to the sites
that have helped us recruit over the past few
years, often in difficult circumstances such as
the COVID-19 pandemic. During our meetings
with these centres, we provided them with
insights from our trials that could potentially be
clinically relevant. They were also able to ask
questions or make comments that could be
considered for future research.
We are pleased to announce that our colleague Orphé Matthys has successfully
completed both the internal and the public defence of her doctoral thesis at Ghent
University. This achievement marks an important milestone in her life and we
congratulate her warmly!
Vincent Van Goethem is in the final stages of completing his PhD, completing his
internal defence in July and his public defence planned for September. We wish him
all the best! His talent for connecting and engaging with others will undoubtedly serve
him well in his new role. Good luck, Vincent!
Despite some unexpected challenges,
including protesters blocking our access to
the venue, the DIAdIC conference was a
great success. With 75 attendees from over
25 countries, we were able to reach a truly
international audience.
Throughout the day we hosted 14
presentations and organised several panel
discussions. In addition, we had the pleasure of hearing from a patient-carer dyad who
shared their experiences and added a very personal perspective to the event.
We are confident that the DIAdIC legacy will continue to flourish worldwide.
