"Sales here are approximately 50/50 to French
and International buyers. One huge advantage
is the proximity of Geneva airport, which makes
it appealing to overseas buyers. We have also
seen a spike in demand from French clients, who
are buying second homes to enjoy the mountain
village lifestyle, away from the towns and cities.
There is a slight anomaly in the Notaire's figures
which show Morzine and Les Gets having virtually
identical pricing. In reality you will find that
prices in the latter are slightly higher and you will
pay up to 7,500 euros per m2 for an apartment in
a prime location (indeed, prices of around 10,000
euros per m2 have recently been achieved for the
incredible properties at the foot of the piste).
Both resorts are popular and represent excellent
value for money.
This part of the Alps has a traditional feel to it.
Local families still run the hotels and restaurants,
so Morzine/Avoriaz and Les Gets have not lost their
wonderful Alpine village atmosphere, despite
moving with the times and the annual investment
in new lifts and general infrastructure. Careful
planning has provided a lot of state-of-the-art
buildings, for weeklong stays and some local
hotels have developed into luxury apartments.
The focus here has been on providing a wide
range of winter and summer activities, and this
summer the plan is for the lifts to open up early
on the 18th June."
This market been cushioned
from the Covid impact, as
buyers seek fresh air and
open spaces.

Across in Morzine (Val d'Aulps), Andrew's colleague, Nicky Wye, has a similarly optimistic outlook:
