catering & hospitality; trade
skills; and housekeeping.
The development of
vocational skills is enhanced
through opportunities to
participate in on-site work
experience activities. We have
a fully functional, industrystandard
bakery on-site where
young people with these skills
and interests can develop
their work-based skills. Where
possible, we partner with off-site work experience and placements to allow our
young people to practice their skills in other settings within the wider
community. The ultimate aim is to secure paid employment.
•Community inclusion
The development of skills
for each individual to
successfully participate
within the local
community is a key focus.
To support the
individual's development,
the community is
accessed regularly in a
range of ways including
the use of local facilities
such as shops, banks,
places of worship, cafes;
the use of leisure facilities;
and vocational
opportunities in a variety of off-site work placements.
•Transition planning
Developing skills which will support each young adult for life beyond Prior's Court
is the overall aim of the learning done within the Young Adult Provision. In
addition to building core skills such as communication, self-care and daily living
skills, by the time each individual leaves at the age of 25, we will have supported
them in developing the skills they need to access and be part of a local
community. We work closely with parents and professionals from their future
adult placement to ensure that transition is as successful as possible.
