Understanding feelings
We can read some words to find out how different characters feel.
(1) Adjectives show a character's feelings.
Liana was very tired and fell asleep after she finished the marathon.
(2) Action words help us understand a character's feelings too.
We celebrated the 88th birthday of Uncle Wong. I gave him a big
present. He smiled kindly.
Last night, Howard saw smoke coming out from a flat on the first floor.
He remembered an old lady lives there. Howard was worried. He rushed
to the flat and saw the old lady lying on the floor. She sprained her
ankle so she could not move. She looked frightened.
Soon, the fire became bigger. Howard decided to carry the old lady out
of the flat. Finally, the firemen came and put out the fire. The old lady
held Howard's hands and said in tears, 'Thank you for saving my life.'
