Revelations From The Archive:
Summer Holidays
"Revelations from the Archive", a weekly
newsletter from the Archive, started as a project
on April 13, 2020. Born amid a pandemic
that forced us to stay inside our homes, the
Heritage team, together with Marketing &
Communications, saw an opportunity to share
inspiration, information, documents, images, and
knowledge about our vast heritage - offering a
possible creative input for research, new ideas
and projects.
Why "revelations"? In dictionaries, the term
refers to:
1. A surprising and previously unknown fact that
has been disclosed to others.
2.The divine or supernatural disclosure to
humans of something relating to human
existence.
We have decided to play with both those
meanings, in an ironic way. Our aim is not to
"teach" history, but to "read" history together,
in the spirit of "sharing is caring." History
can teach us about ourselves, and about our
DNA. Starting from ourselves, we can imagine
new perspectives and trajectories to express
ourselves in the future.
Being closer to summer holidays, the Heritage
team dedicates this issue from the Revelations
series to seaside holidays, inspired also from the
last project "#VersaceLaVacanza": like a journey
from Capri to Miami, through the pictures shot
by Bruce Weber, Mario Testino, Steven Meisel,
Mert&Marcus, celebrating and welcoming
summer vibes!
