Do I need to have any experience of QI
prior to the programme?
No, the monthly tutorial/learning sessions and IHI Open School Modules will equip participants with skills in continuous
quality improvement and sustainability. Various QI Tools/Templates are available to help you manage a successful
improvement project.
Where can I get additional advice?
You will be allocated where possible a staff member who has previously undertaken QI training who will offer their advice
and support and become your Mentor. You will also be supported by Associate Improvement Advisors at QI Clinics where
you can discuss your project to develop an understanding of processes involved in quality improvement and to discuss your
project aim, measures and change concepts for improvement. QI Clinics are scheduled throughout the programme and you
can book timeslots to attend as needed.
How long does the programme last?
The programme lasts eight months (October - May) with additional time required in June to present your project and attend
a final celebration event.
Can more than one person from a team
apply to do the programme/can I come
on my own?
Anyone who wants to learn more about Quality Improvement and undertake a QI Project can apply - Individually or as a
Team. If you are undertaking the programme independently you must form an improvement team to include individuals
associated with all areas that will be affected by the improvement work and, where possible, work along with a service user.
The team should connect regularly to review the progress of the project against the aim and to share knowledge from testing
the change ideas.
