Work-life balance is important...there's
no doubt about it. But each of us values
this balance for different reasons, and
manifests it in different ways. In honor of
this Thrive Quarterly Newsletter's theme
of promoting work-life balance, we asked
members of our Capri community from
all areas of the business - ranging from
Retail Stores to the Distribution Centers
to Corporate - why achieving balance
is important to them and how they do it.
Here is what they had to say:
Q.What habits and strategies are positively
contributing to your current work-life balance?
A. One of the habits I've gotten into is asking
myself: Why?
I always ask myself this question to discover the
true motivation and reasoning behind all of the
activities I have to complete, both for work and for
my personal life. This helps me prioritize efficiently
so I can plan my day ahead. I also have a morning
routine, set regular goals (short-term and longterm), and check in on my progress by evaluating
and adjusting my goals when necessary. This is how I
measure success for achieving my work-life balance.
Q. What were your previous challenges that you
faced before you made a more intentional step to
creating a work-life balance in your life?
A. Before making an intentional step to creating
work-life balance, I was mostly overstressed due to
time-sensitive pressures/projects and difficulties in
managing activities. This naturally resulted in an
ongoing cycle of demotivation. I also wasn't fully
aware of the fact that there was an issue in my
routine of self-reflection and goal-setting. As soon
as I realized this, I noticed that the following were
areas of improvement for me: missing structure,
inefficient time management, and overthinking,
and created a routine that is structured, logical,
motivating, and fun as a result.
Q. How do you hope to use your extra time after
having found this balance?
A. For me, the purpose of having good work-life
balance is to be able to spend my free time on what
makes me happy and focus on friends, family, sports,
and riding my motorcycle.
Q. Capture the essence of your work-life balance in
one sentence!
A. Well-being and staying healthy is the key to
happiness!
