GOALSHow to Stay
Organized
Long-Term
1
We've all set goals that we haven't
been able to keep. Whether you lose
motivation over time, have a hard
time staying organized, can't find the
time to achieve them, or a combination
of all 3…you may find yourself losing
all of your progress, and starting
from scratch.
As we start to streamline our New
Year's goals & resolutions, keep these
5 steps in mind to successfully - and
efficiently - achieve your personal
and professional long-term goals:
FIND YOUR
MOTIVATION.
The best success stems from working
towards accomplishing what you truly
WANT to achieve - not what you
feel you HAVE to achieve. With this in
mind, try appealing to your emotions
to fuel your motivation. Tapping into
your feelings takes the focus away
from the potentially intimidating
actions needed to achieve your goals,
and allows you to focus on the "WHY."
This is the best way to persuade
yourself to do anything - and helps
you stick with the tasks needed to do
so along the way! 2BREAK UP YOUR
GOAL INTO
ACHIEVABLE STEPS
One small step for you means one large step
towards achieving your goal. Achieving a huge
goal all in one fell swoop can seem tempting, but
the reality is, relying on the high-intensity focus
that this requires isn't a sustainable long-term
solution. Instead of trying to bite off more than
you can chew in one sitting, work on creating
small, daily habits that you can stick to. The key
is consistency, so these habits should only take
about 5-10 minutes to ensure you achieve them
no matter how busy your day is. Spending even
just 5 minutes a day to work toward achieving
a goal will allow you to see your progress in real
time and course correct along the way.
