3INCORPORATE
YOUR GOAL INTO
YOUR SCHEDULE.
HOLD
YOURSELF
ACCOUNTABLE.
Now that you've broken up your goal into
achievable daily action items, the key is
to blend them into your day. If you just
"wing it" or "get to it when you have
a free moment," it can easily become
an afterthought that you keep pushing
further and further down your to-do list.
There will always be more important
things to work on that come up last
minute - the trick is to plan ahead. If
you are truly motivated, you can make
the time to do so! Designate a set time
to work on your task that you stick to no
matter what else is happening, like any
other meeting on your calendar. If you
make space on your schedule specifically
for those tasks, they'll never become an
afterthought.
4STICK WITH IT!
Step 4: Stick with it! This is
arguably the hardest part. You've
set yourself up for success…now
it's time to maintain it. When you
see yourself slipping on achieving
your goals, ask yourself why you're
having a hard time keeping up
- and what specific parts need
adjusting. Then, course correct!
You don't have to get it all right in
one shot - it's how you approach
finding the solution that makes
the difference. Create systems
and habits that allow you to easily
stay on top of your goals longterm as your needs evolve, rather
than solving one "in the moment"
roadblock.
It's simple, but it works. The work that you put into
achieving whatever it is you set your mind to should
be valued. Attaching a positive reinforcement, or
reward, to a task is a great way to keep the behavior
you achieved long-term. Another way to use rewards is
intermittently, as you complete major milestone steps
- especially if you're having trouble - rather than
waiting until the end when you've achieved your goal.
It doesn't have to be a big reward - even treating
yourself to a coffee can go a long way.
5It's easy to set goals, hard to keep
them up, and even harder to
realize when you're slipping! If
you have an area or two that make
it especially hard to keep to your
goals, you'll just need to devote a
little more time and attention to
those areas rather than giving up
on the whole thing. Whether you
stick with it consistently or not, be
sure to hold yourself accountable
along the way. This will help you
avoid letting unfinished tasks pile
up for too long.
LAST
NOT
BUT
LEAST,REWARD YOURSELF…
YOU'VE EARNED IT!
