A little work goes a long way. While it may seem daunting, instilling a culture
of wellbeing among your colleagues is something that ANYONE can achieve
through simple, yet impactful, steps. Here are 3 ways that we as employees
- regardless of job level - can foster wellbeing within our teams. After all,
teamwork makes the dream work!
Set and maintain a sustainable productivity pace.
All too often, we think of being productive as working harder, and for longer hours. In
reality, constantly over-emphasizing working more can lead to workplace burnout and
toxic productivity - leaving employees to feel that their performance metrics are more
important than their wellbeing.
Try this
Instead of celebrating employees who overwork, celebrate ways to incorporate short breaks or other forms of
self care throughout the day. Share examples of when you observe your teammates incorporating healthy mental
habits into their day - like finding ways to schedule some downtime between meetings. If you see something,
say something! Also, if your work relies on someone else's response, ensure that you're leaving enough time for
them to execute the task during office hours, taking into account pre-existing work that might be more urgent.
