Welcome
I'd like to extend a warm welcome to City
of Glasgow College's inaugural Hospitality
and Culinary Summit and to our award
winning City campus. This state of the art
facility is the larger of our twin site college
estate, proudly standing tall in the heart of
Glasgow's Learning Quarter.
We are honoured to be joined by some
of the country's most influential industry
leaders for this summit, which will focus
on how the broad and diverse hospitality
and culinary industry stays dynamic in our
ever changing world.
The hospitality and culinary sector plays
a major role in our economy and it will
continue to require a fresh pipeline of
talent to ensure that Scotland, and the
UK, remains a global pioneer.
There is a clear challenge to ensure that
our students are well equipped to enter
the workplace with real and relevant links
to industry. I firmly believe colleges are
the ideal place to deliver that.
This valuable summit provides us with an
opportunity to discuss and debate the
challenges which lie ahead, as well as the
key areas of opportunity and innovation
within the culinary and hospitality industry.
It will consider how educators,
professionals and government can
work together to pre-empt consumer
trends and expectations, while building
sustainable, and resilient partnerships.
I hope you enjoy what I am sure will be a
stimulating and thought provoking event
and I look forward to meeting you all in
person.
