MAXIMISING YOUR
OPPORTUNITIES!
While there are loads of benefits you
can get from being part of a project, it's
up to you to make the most of them.
Here are some simple approaches for
you to consider which could help you
maximise the opportunities of being
part of a project, and some links to
useful resources in the Academy which
could help you on the way to personal
success.
Use the opportunity to build your
network. Collaborate with as many
people as you can and get your views
across.
Ask for feedback. Welcome input
from the wider project team on your
contributions and invite questions.
Recognise opportunities to learn
new things and ask questions.
Have clear goals for your
experience. What are you adding to
the project, and what skills can you
build from the experience?
Make sure you know why your
manager has put you forward for
the project. What is their
expectation?
Be confident in asking for help and
advice from your project colleagues.
It's better for your brand to seek
clarification than to muddle along!
To make the most of these project
opportunities, its up to you to put yourself
forward; be enthusiastic, proactive, and
driven. To quote the most recent GB
Paralympic team,
"You don't have to be brilliant to start, but
you do have to start to be brilliant."
