Versace America's President, Brian
Henke, was a panelist on a June
17th virtual discussion entitled
"Conversations Around Diversity,
Equity & Inclusion and the Retail
Landscape". Brian, who was
joined by other LGBTQ+ senior
retail industry leaders and allies,
was invited by John Richards of
Greenberg Traurig (GT), who
leads GT's Retail Industry and
LGBTQ+ affinity group globally,
and who moderated the panel
as part of GT's sponsorship with
OUT Leadership and its 2021
Proudly Resilient Summit.
OUT Leadership is the oldest
and largest global LGBTQ+
business advisory that partners
with the world's most influential
companies to build business
opportunities, cultivate talent,
and drive LGBTQ+ equality
forward. The 2021 Proudly
Resilient Summit is 30 days of
Pride celebration consisting of
over 40 programs with senior
business leaders.
During the discussion, Brian
noted that the "pandemic
gave way to a lot of additional
thought …what is the world
that we're in, how can I make
it better on my own, what can I
do". He highlighted Capri D&I
initiatives including the monthly
Communications newsletter
(worldwide celebrations
and employee spotlights),
D&I Trainings, diversifying
our population, the Speaker
Series, the Foundation for the
Advancement of Diversity in the
Fashion Industry
(and the $20M pledge by Capri),
and the soon to be rolled out
Employee Resource Groups and
Mentorship Programs. Of the
Mentorship Program, Brian
said that he "feels very strongly"
about it, and that "those are
the things I would choose to be
remembered for".
