the question asks.
Example (Listening 1, Practice point, Question 2)
Vincent: Last month, I entered a local championship. In the final match,
I played against an experienced player. I lost in the first game, but
I won in the next two games. I finally got the gold medal, the first
one in my life.
2 Which of the following is TRUE about the final match?
A Vincent got the silver medal.
B Vincent lost in the first and second games.
C Vincent played against a new player.
D Vincent was the winner.
1 Read the question and options. We need to find out the option
that is 'TRUE' about Vincent's performance or information about
the final match.
2 Underline the keywords in the options, as shown.
3 Listen carefully. Pay attention to the information related to
these keywords in the recording. Vincent says 'I finally got the
gold medal …' at the end. This means he was the winner of the
final match. (Answer: D)
The keywords in the recording may not be the same as in the questions. Pay
attention to the synonyms of the keywords. Vincent does not use the word
'winner', but says 'got the gold medal'.
