This is the most recent press release. But, here's a bit of the history:
After he left King's College in Taunton, in 1968, SIMON JONES appeared
in 22 productions during his 3 years at Cambridge University, continued
his training by joining repertory theatre companies in Bradford and
Crewe. He made his first appearance in London's West End in 1976
in Bloomsbury, and later The Clandestine Marriage, The Millionairess,
Candida and, for the RSC, Wild Oats and Privates on Parade; the recent
London run of Blithe Spirit marked the end of his 35-year absence.
This was followed by an appearance at the 2014 Chichester Theatre
Festival's, production of AMADEUS, in the role of 'Emperor Joseph',
with Rupert Everett as 'Salieri'.
His extensive work in theatre was complemented by roles in films, radio
and TV. Most notably, he played the part of 'Arthur Dent' (the earthling
in the dressing gown) in "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" (the radio,
TV & recent stage shows) and 'Bridey' in the original TV mini-series of
"Brideshead Revisited".
Following his 1983 marriage to, Nancy Lewis, (American Manager of
Monty Python) he began working extensively in the U.S. His Broadway
debut was in The Real Thing and he since appeared in Benefactors, The
School for Scandal, Getting Married, Private Lives, The Real Inspector
Hound & (15-minute) Hamlet, The Herbal Bed, Ring Round the Moon,
Waiting in the Wings, and Blithe Spirit.
He still kept up film, radio and TV… with such shows as "Law & Order",
"Newhart", "Brazil", "12 Monkeys", more "Hitchhiker's Guide" radio
series… (Go to simonjonesinfo.com for additional information.)
In other words, Simon has always been able to work as an actor - with
wonderful levels of success.
Simon & Nancy have one son, Timothy, aged 25, who lived in London,
working with Everyman Cinema Chain, for the past 3 years. He has
just returned to New York, and will soon be announcing his new work
affiliation. Stay tuned!
