The Local Studies Collection is an excellent
resource to anyone interested in local history. The
knowledgeable staff will help visitors find their
way through a variety of material, including local
maps from 1635 to date, a unique collection of
playbills for Richmond Theatre, files
of local newspapers form
1854 onwards, records
of locally produced
publications such
as a church
magazines, works
of local authors,
annual reports
of local societies,
photographs of
the local area from
Victorian times to
present and much more.

Find your inner inventor at Spirit of Invention, a
fun, free design exhibition open until Sunday 29
October 2023. Step into a world of creativity from
past to present - see original Victorian designs that
capture the glorious imagination of Victorian Britain
alongside designs from modern makers. Try on a
Victorian ventilating top hat, make a call on an early
telephone and have the chance to prototype your
own ideas!
You can also spend time researching in our reading
rooms and visiting our shop and fantastic onsite
café supplied by The Original Maids of Honour.
Our online offer is just as exciting, including virtual
exhibition tours and our fascinating podcast, On
the Record. Plus, our online events programme
is packed with big names and a wealth of history
- featuring a range of exciting talks delving into
figures and stories from the past.

Explore the historic home of Remembrance in
Richmond. Discover the moving story of the people
behind the poppies at The Poppy Factory's new
visitor centre.
Established after the First World War, The Poppy
Factory developed into a close community of
wounded veterans and their families. See how
veterans still make Royal and regimental wreaths
by hand and have a go at making a wreath and your
own poppy.
Small groups and solo guests can book to join one
of the regular hosted discovery sessions, listed on
the website. Larger groups can choose a date
to visit and order ahead to enjoy a delicious Tea
Break, with cakes and refreshments served by
veteran and volunteer baristas. Younger visitors
can enjoy a fun and educational exhibition
treasure hunt.
Today, The Poppy Factory supports veterans with
health conditions on their journey into all kinds of
employment across England and Wales. By booking
a visit, you'll help veterans and their families
