Most of our waking hours we spend
at work. We see people we work with
more than we see our partners and
families. Social interactions play an
essential role in our well being, has a
positive impact on our performance,
and helps us to feel connected and
motivated.
The workday can be long and
exhausting, not having opportunities
to see each other face to face these
days creates a lot of stressful
situations. It really helps if you are
surrounded by people you can talk
to about your work stuff as well as
more personal things.
Someone who we can chat, share
lunch breaks, and vent about our
frustrations and challenges.
Someone we can talk casually with,
bounce ideas off, and trust. Not
necessarily a best friend, but a bit
more than a standard co-worker.
Being proactive about healthy work
relationships can make us more
open and approachable and it helps
to build other connections.

Employee engagement is a journey, not a destination and research by Gallup
shows that local supervisors and managers account for at least 70% of the
factors affecting employee engagement and play the most significant role in
building engagement.
At CooperVision we are committed to focusing on employee engagement:
Therefore, the Company is about to launch the Gallup Q12 Engagement
Survey again, giving our employees the opportunity to give us the gift of their
open and honest feedback. So that we can listen, take note, and take actions.
Earlier in the newsletter we showed some examples of engagement actions
that came from last year's survey results - we are sure that there will be
more ways in which the EU L&D team will be able to support you in your
engagement action plan activities going forward and we are more than
happy to work with you - just reach out to us and we can help you put
together a plan.
Remember - everyone is responsible for his or her engagement, however as
a manager you are responsible for creating an environment where
engagement can happen.
