PENTECOST
June 20 2021
Pentecost is a celebration by the Church
of the coming of the Holy Spirit of the
history of salvation. It is also known as
the beginning of the church, the birthday
of the church.
The word Pentecost is a Greek word
meaning fiftieth. On Pentecost, the
fiftieth day after Easter, the power of the
Holy Spirit filled Jesus Christ's disciples
and followers. This symbolized the
fulfillment of the promise that the Lord
had made to them before he ascended
into heaven.
Pentecost is observed by all Christian
denominations, Orthodox, Protestant
and Roman Catholic. It is a day many
people pray for the power of the Holy
Spirit to enter their hearts and give
them spiritual strength to live their lives
according to the will of God.
