What does the future of
maths education look like?
Dr. Jennifer Chang Wathal
Pre-COVID-19, education reform was known to be slow and resistant
to change31, and it was widely recognized there was a need for
education systems to reform faster and more continuously to meet
the demands of the dynamically changing 21st century.
COVID-19 has accelerated education reform and provided the
opportunity to find new ways to address and improve learning for
our students. The global pandemic has stimulated innovation and
forced education to act and change quickly and adapt. This current
VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, and Ambiguous) world has
transformed our mode of delivery and transformed our teaching.
