Essentially this is the epitome of a realisation that bolder
measures need to be taken. The big picture will be formed by

caught up in makes us reluctant to do anything about what

Barring some huge cataclysmic event, the breakdown of society
by war or a pandemic which reduces humankind at a stroke,
we are not going to get out of it. Humanity is at the root of the
Earth's problem but it has now gone so far that we have reached
a point where all we can really do is to slow things down and
hope the planet catches back up and recovers, if it is given
