Welcome to our 18th edition of the newsletter.
I looked back at our 2020 autumn edition of the newsletter
when we were optimistically turning our attention to Christmas
and to the optimism of 2021. Let's trust that 2022 turns out
safe. We have moved along way in tackling covid through the
use of vaccines thanks in no small measure to dedicated
researchers carrying out high quality research and clinical
research and this will continue. Research will also help to
create a better understanding how people experienced the last
couple of years and what changes individuals and
organisations had to be make to adapt to the changing
situation to ensure safe outcomes.
We still have a long way to go not just locally but nationally
and internationally. But as it was in the early days of March
2020 it remains the responsibility of each one of us to continue
to give due diligence and take the necessary precautions in
the current pandemic.
Up to date guidance on Covid19 (coronavirus) remains on the
PHA Website at: https://www.publichealth.hscni.net/
Whilst cognisance needs to be taken of the current
workforce challenges experienced by our organisations it is
nevertheless very motivating to report that our research
evidence agenda within social work remains a high priority.
In this edition we bring you up to date on information and developments
underway in relation to social work and social care research and evidence
activity here in Northern Ireland and elsewhere. The newsletter also provides
feedback and outcomes on events that have taken place and details on
forthcoming events as well as links to other tools and resources.
The 9
th
Annual Research Conference is scheduled for 9th
March 2022. We had
hoped to host this event in the elegant surrounds of Belfast Castle as had been
the case for several years. Unfortunately with Covid-19 still posing so many
challenges your safety is our priority. Consequently as in 2021 will host the eanne.mcglade@hscni.netSee details on page 6.
