Our year 2014/15 | Quality in our people page | 28
2014/15 also marked the third successful year of our apprentice programme and it has been a busy year for our 12
apprentices in terms of their development. In January 2015 they sat their first exam with CILEx with many achieving
merits and distinctions. Following on from his national award last year, George Denton was invited to speak at the
Education Funding Agency Conference about his apprenticeship journey so far and took the opportunity to deliver a
powerful message to government about the value of apprenticeships. Browne Jacobson also remains very committed
to the ongoing development of the 'apprenticeship Trailblazers' initiative and we continue to work with the
Department for Business, Innovation & Skills in creating the new legal apprentice framework for 2017. These new
routes will allow progression from school leaver to qualified solicitor and will open up opportunities into the legal
sector that did not previously exist.
The high regard that our lawyers are held in also resulted in a number of accolades. Derek Bambury, our senior
partner, was presented with the Solicitor of the Year Award by Nottinghamshire Law Society. Mark Fowles, a partner
in our Exeter office, was appointed president of the Insurance Institute of Exeter whilst Nick Parsons, head of
insurance, was elected chair of FOIL - the Forum of Insurance Lawyers.
