Generally the large majority of
participants were satisfied with the
course.
Participants also offered some helpful
critique regarding the limitations of the
course including evaluation design, the
method by which the course was
delivered via Zoom and at times the
lectures were a little too PowerPoint
heavy.
Overall, the preliminary findings
suggest that there has been
significant benefits for all involved in
the design of 'Getting Involved in
Research' including the
empowerment of service-user
stakeholders through their
contributions to the course design
and teaching responsibilities.

"Though I do not have any research
projects immediately in mind, I can
see ways in which the information,
skills and exploration of issues will
be useful in other projects e.g.
collective advocacy, sharing
learning in PPI group, being
pro-active in connecting online. I feel
more confident about scope of peer
researcher roles". - Participant with
lived experience.
I came on the course to expand my
knowledge of the research process.
I have definitely developed this and
am keen to take it forward in the
current and any upcoming research
I am involved in. - Participant
working in the C&V Worker.
"This was amazing! I loved being able
to hear so many different points of
view and being able to learn about
such a different field of study from my
own. I also enjoyed building on my
previous skills, and I hope I can take
what I've learned forward with me!

Well organised, good timing finished
when it said. Good discussions and
time to talk to lecturers if needed to
over breaks".
Participant working in the C&V Sector
"I wasn't aware that the course
would be quite so demanding and
found the reflective journals particularly
onerous. However my age
and my mental health disability, my
retirement status and the fact that I
haven't experienced a full-time
working week for a number of
years has a huge bearing on this
answer". -
Participant with lived experience
"At times when the lecture was
PowerPoint heavy, I felt a little
bored and disengaged, but the rest
of the time I very much enjoyed. -
