Ulster University bids farewell to Judith Mullineux who has
been an exemplar for partnership working
It is with great sadness that we must note that Dr Judith
Mullineux, Senior Lecturer in Social Work at Ulster
University, has now moved on to take up the role of Head of
Department of Early Years and Social Studies at
Letterkenny Institute of Technology. For the past 20 years
Judith has had a leading role in relation to social work
post-qualifying courses in Northern Ireland, as well as
contributing to research projects and undergraduate teaching.
In the context of this newsletter, we would like to pay tribute to
the way in which the many post-qualifying courses in which
she has been involved have been mechanisms to bring
research knowledge into the learning of so many social work
practitioners and managers. We would also like to thank her most sincerely for her
contribution to the post-qualifying Research Methods Programme, not only as a
tutor and marker but also 'behind the scenes' in guiding the continuing
development of the programme as it worked its way through our regulatory body
(NISCC) and University approval processes. From the perspective of Ulster
University, Judith has been an exemplary ambassador for partnership working with
both employers and with the Social Care Council. Post-qualifying social work in
Northern Ireland would not be where it is today without her dedication and tireless
efforts. She will be sadly missed!

Additional note from the editor
Judith I am sure I speak on behalf of so many colleagues in Northern Ireland and
further afield when I wish you every good wish and success in the future. It is
definitely Letterkenny's gain as we know you have so much to offer. It is always a
daunting prospect to make such a huge career change but with your commitment,
warm personality and enthusiasm it will turn out well. By the time you are reading
this you will have settled in I trust. Remember your colleagues in Northern Ireland
are never far away. Let me just echo my appreciation for all your support for the
post qualifying research methods course at UU and helping
us get it to the place where it is today.
Best wishes Anne
