The Challenges and Necessity of Co-production
Drug use and street homelessness during a pandemic: synergetic working with a
vulnerable population
By Anne Campbell, Kathy Faulkner, Chris Rintoul, Iain Cameron
"This was a really important chapter to write. It brings to the public's attention the
work that goes on with people who are homeless and have substance use
problems, primarily opioid use disorders. Equally importantly it highlights the work
of the Extern Street Injectors Outreach service during the recent lockdowns. The
service engages with people who are IV heroin users. Bringing the voice of the
individual to the forefront one aspect of the chapter focuses on the perspective of a
young service user and his views on rough sleeping in Belfast".
